The ICC calculator will then return the points gained by each team.<\/p><p>For instance, if <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/7cricinr.com\/blog\/england-cricket-team\/\" target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"dofollow noopener\" title=\"England\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">England<\/a> (Team 1) with a rating of 248 plays against Australia (Team 2) with a rating of 275, and Team 1 wins, the points calculation would be as follows:<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Team 1 gains = 275 (Opponent&#8217;s rating) + 50 = 325<br \/>Team 2 gains = 248 (Own rating) &#8211; 50 = 198<\/p><p>These points are then added to the teams&#8217; current tally, and the total points are divided by the number of matches played to calculate the new team ratings.<\/p><p>As of February 2022, England leads the men&#8217;s ICC T20 rankings with 9354 points from 34 matches, resulting in a team rating of 275.<\/p><p>In the women&#8217;s ICC T20 rankings, Australia leads with 5824 points from 20 matches, resulting in a team rating of 291.<\/p><h2><strong>How are T20I Points Calculated?<\/strong><\/h2><p>The points for each match a team plays are calculated using the following formula:<\/p><p>Points = Match Result Points x Opponent Strength<\/p><p>The Match Result Points are awarded as follows:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Win<\/strong>: 2 points<\/li><li><strong>Tie, No Result, or Abandoned<\/strong>: 1 point<\/li><li><strong>Loss<\/strong>: 0 points<\/li><\/ul><p>The Opponent Strength is a factor based on the ranking of the opponent. It&#8217;s calculated as 50% of the opponent&#8217;s rating points at the start of the series plus 50 points.<\/p><p>The total points a team has are then divided by the total number of matches played to give a rating, which is used to rank the teams.
